The term 'Dependable capacity' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' The capacity that can be relied upon to carry system load for a specified time interval and period, provide assumed reserve, and/or meet firm power obilgations'.

The term 'Dependable capacity' as it applies to the area of energy can be defined as ' The load-carrying ability of a station or system under adverse conditions for a specified period of time'.
